My first child is due Feb. 8th 2012. As I wait with anticipation for my breastfeeding adventure to begin, I feel so lucky to be able to be a part of the breastfeeding blog world. For more about me read the About Us section of the blog! This blog is intended to be a place of inspiration and information. It is a place to share stories and ideas. I love hearing from you!
It’s that time of year again. We have received new styles and new colours of Momzelle nursing tops for Fall and tomorrow we will have them professionally photographed. Real nursing moms will be posing for your benefit.
I LOVE photo shoots. Every time there is a new one I become very excited. Hiring the photographer, the make up and hair artists, making sure we have little toys to distract the babies and the right sizes of clothing for the models. It just feels so glamourous, for the moms and for me!
I can’t wait to show you the results (if all goes well, that will be on Wednesday). By the way, I did take temporary pics of the new colours and styles, you can check them out here: http://www.momzelle.com/categories/3/long-sleeves-nursing-tops. All of the tops are available right now!
I love this! For breastfeeding month (August), celebrities share the words they use to talk about their breasts: boobs, boobies, rack, the girls… It’s very well done, fun to watch, and inspiring!
I’m very excited, as this is our first guest post ever on the Momzelle blog. Amanda DeGrace, a Canadian mom who loves to wear her Momzelle nursing top when she feeds her baby, has suggested to present one yoga move per month. Amanda has her own yoga studio in Ottawa and she specializes in yoga for pregnancy and postpartum. I guess we could say “yoga bellies” and “yoga babies”. Yoga is a gentle exercise that’s perfect for new moms and their babies. If you have seen the movie “Babies”, you’ll know it works marvels! So without further ado, here is Amanda’s post:
DeGrace Energetics & Little Lotus Yoga are excited to bring to Momzelle Mom & Baby Fitness & Yoga! Stay tuned for monthly yoga postures, sequences & fitness movements that are mom & baby friendly.
As a busy mother you spend your days working, taking care of the children, doing endless loads of laundry, grocery shopping and trying to take a time out for your mind, body and spirit. By the time you have finished enough of your daily to-do list that you feel okay with taking a moment to sit down and breathe the baby is already wake from his/her nap. Back up you get from the chair you just sat down in and think if only you had a moment to refresh, revitalize and re-energize.
The solution? Take time out each day for a few yoga postures or fitness exercises that will revitalize and increase flexibility and increase strength & stamina, all while clearing your mind and focusing on what matters most- your mind, body and spirit.

This morning I looked at an old issue of Today’s Parent magazine that was on my coffee table (I kept it because it gave great ideas about how to organize children’s birthday parties), and read about competition between mothers. The article seemed to consider “competitive” the fact to tell your child, when giving him an apple, that the word apple starts by the letter “A”. When I found today’s quote, I liked that it does not read breastfeeding is the “best” gift, but that breastfeeding is “a” gift.
Breastfeeding is a mother’s gift to herself, her baby and the earth.
Get inspired: celebrities breastfeed too! Here is a little compilation, in alphabetical order, of well known breastfeeding celebrities. These supermodels, actresses, and singers are beautiful, they are sexy and, above all, they are women and nursing mothers like you and me. If you are a celebrity reading this, and you would like to be listed here, please send me an email at info @ momzelle.com.
The nursing stars. A list of breastfeeding celebrities
Two photographers, neighbours of mine, have this great project for a book and are looking for nursing mothers to share their nursing story and have their portraits taken. I thought I’d share this here, as you may be interested!
Are you a breastfeeding mother? We are two breastfeeding mothers who want to create a contemporary children’s book featuring portraits of breastfeeding moms and their children. Would you like to have your portrait taken and tell your nursing story?
We are looking for nursing mothers who have a variety of breastfeeding experiences–mothers who are nursing infants, toddlers, (or both), mothers who nurse in public places, at work or in the comfort of your home, mothers from a variety of cultures, communities and language groups.
